In April 2010 THE LOSERS, the comic book series by British comic book writer Andy Diggle (200 AD) and artist Jock (Hellblazer: Pandemonium coming February 2010), comes to the big screen!
In celebration of this highly anticipated movie adaptation, Vertigo will collect Volume 1: Ante Up and Volume 2: Double Down (issues #1-12) of the groundbreaking, Eisner-nominated Vertigo series in a single volume to be published in January 2010. This 304-page paperback by Andy Diggle with art by Jock and Shawn Martinbrough and with cover by Jock will retail for $19.99.

As many of you know, THE LOSERS is an explosive tale of double cross and revenge. It centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

It’s directed by Sylvain White (“Stomp the Yard”) and stars this incredible cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“The Watchmen”), Zoë Saldana (“Star Trek”), Chris Evans (“Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), Idris Elba (“Obsessed,” “RocknRolla”), Columbus Short (“Stomp the Yard,”), Holt McCallany (“Vantage Point”), Oscar Jaeneda (“Che: Part Two”) and Jason Patric (“In the Valley of Elah”).
The screenplay is by Peter Berg (“Friday Night Lights”) and James Vanderbilt (“Zodiac”), based on the comic books written by Andy Diggle and illustrated by Jock. The film is being produced by Joel Silver (the “Matrix” trilogy) and Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind,” “I Am Legend”).
THE LOSERS is scheduled for worldwide release by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
